Vocality

As the long recording process continues we are now attacking vocals. We've completed the leads on about 5 tracks already. The rest should go by just as fast with the backing harmonies to follow. Stay put. The teasing is on the way. We cannot wait to get this thing finished and hopefully it will be completed and out by Spring.

We are still working on recording:

Some technical difficulties were had...

But we are a lot smarter than we look...

We will begin tracking vocals soon. The songs are sounding HUGE!

Byron Fest

Saturday we got to play at ByronFest in Byron Illinois. It had been nearly 5 months since our last show at the Annex, but it was a great show to come back to. Being that our practice space has been flooding randomly with the crazy storms we have been getting we started the day off with our first practice in a week or so.

Photobucket

It feels great to get back into playing together after recording for so long. There is nothing quite like feeding off of each others energy in a live setting. After running through the set and packing up the van, we all went to a new cigar bar not far from our rehearsal space called Drakenbergs. Rather nice place, not to big, nice furniture, and most importantly... good beer.

After a few pints we hit the road. It is about 1 1/2 hours to Byron from Madison.... that is... if you don't get lost. We.... got lost. We ended up taking a wrong turn getting off the highway and ended up in the ghetto of Rockford. It's just like that Elvis song... you know... in the ghetto.

After stopping at a duel gas station/ police station for about 20 minutes, we get our barrings and know the way to go.... but that doesn't mean we go on it. For all the roads in this town are either dead ends, miss labeled, or one ways. So about another 10 minutes of driving in squiggles, and passing two walking ice cream vendors we are back on the highway going the right way. Then after 15 minutes of driving along side a lake that once was a river we find Byron. We go on in about an hour after arriving, which gives us enough time to unpack and get ready for the rocking.

The show went off pretty well. It felt a little weird for the first few songs, but after watching Boat flail around on stage like crazy I decided to join in and it all came together. (Once again we were privileged to have Dauber from coach come out to the show. He and his family are on the road for a summer trip and planned the stop to catch the show. A hell of a guy he is. We will have to get a band photo with him next time he comes to a show.) At the end of 77 M.P.H. Glass (our closer) I cut my hand open again on my guitar. This time though it was worse than usual, but luckily most of the blood ended up on my shirt rather than my guitar. Now let it be known that I don't cut myself for attention.... I do it to make the voices stop.

Good thing for me that Boats parents were there. Mrs. Boats Mom had a liquid band aid type of thing with her that smelled like red bull.

After us was Enter.

It was their cd release and they sounded better than ever. They got quite a good turn out being that it is their home town. When we get our record together we will be setting up a show with them in Rockford... (not the ghetto part.)

After they are done we chat em up a bit about things, grab a cd and hit the road back to home.

Photobucket

We were all pleased to be able to be getting home before 3 a.m. with this show. But it was still to late for most eateries to be open. We found (after about 15 minutes of hard searching) an Arby's that had the drive through open.

Photobucket

Unlucky for the people behind us though was the 15 minutes it took to get our food ordered and cooked. But that is ok, our trailer we rented had a Texas license plate. Plus, we were hungry. I ended up choosing poorly with the 2 roast beef and cheddar for 4 bucks.... and they didn't get Marc any "Fucking Mustard!". But all and all, thats about the best a single girl working could do at 1 in the morning to appease 5 musicians. We just hope she didn't spit in any of the food.

With grub in our bellies we spent the rest of the trip listening to Lewis Black laughing our asses off. This show will be a great catalyst for getting our asses in gear with finishing the record. We need merch too. We are hoping to get some stickers and shirts too by the time we get around to a Record Release show. Which hopefully isn't to far off....

We have another show at the High Noon in August. Come on out, it should be a good one.

Until then take care and keep and ear out... we should be getting in high gear soon.

Break from the Studio

We'd like to say a big thank you to Mr. Victor Johnson Jr. for composing and recording a reprise on the record. He has taken one of our songs and reintepreted it and we couldn't be happier.

The next steps aren't easy as far as recording goes. We've still got guitars to do but even more difficult will be the strings and horns. It doesn't help that our studio continues to flood even after the insanity of last month. We promise to get back to it soon but to keep us from going insane we've booked a few shows in the midwest:

Well we did it (shit i knew we would)

Hey guys. I am at work on 1.5 hours of sleep. Ty, I have to give you credit man. This is not an easy thing to do. Great job yesterday to all.

Thanks Ty for all the hard work and prep that went into the day.
Thanks Marc for the van and every second you were conscious.

Scott for his soothing piano melodies and hard work making sure the tracks were ready for the big day.

And Brad who literally blew everyone's mind yesterday. Absolutely incredible.

I am so excited for this album now I can't even describe it. Mostly because I am so tired that I can't see, hear, or move my lower extremities correctly, but that is going to change very soon.
Love all you guys

Would ya look at the time?

We've finished tracking the MIDI drums, bass, keys, guitars and most of the samples. On the 17th we're heading to CRC studios in good ol' Chicago to record the drums. After that it's on to the strings, brass, vocals and any other little extra special noise we think needs to be added. Mixing will take as long as it needs to. We can tell you that we're looking at a minimum of 12 tracks and hope to have this done by September.

The Spring

With reflections on the past and
Visions of the future
I stand on the edge of something new
Will I walk forward or fall into uncertainty
Or step back into a comfortable scenario
Can I leave it all for the pursuit of happiness
Or does it lie somewhere behind me

Time wakes up these lies
Defines the lines we stand on

What about aching minds and sore hearts
This fear lacks just enough to move on
Your teething now and must proceed
This fear lacks just enough to move on

Regardless of the choices made
I will never know the options
As I lie awake at night and
Think about what could have been

Control our lives upon demand
Just hold this down
We'll all get by
Is it so easy to live without regret
Just hold this down
We'll all get by

Time wakes up these lies
Defines the lines we stand on

Always Connected

Well above all the lazy heat
But my leap is too low to cross stalling youth
Come into the crutch of gaining grip
Now there is no more excuse
You'll just have to take it in
But the truth can't be refused
We're always connected

(real)

Stock safety and keep the thoughts
Resting on the Ground
If I start to lose then so do you
We're always connected
That's enough to motivate and
Never fall behind
Never cold, no wars
Yet maddening and desperate

(real)

Welcome to the mold of a corner page
You might stay awhile
While I fold

Always hanging listless shoe-ins

“Spacefast”

This is not the way to solace
Only destruction down this path we see
Slip off the plank of honesty
Holds true
I’ll still be here waiting for you

So fall out and get lost in childish positions
Who could live like this?
Waste time our world will just race
Angst and discomfort to all those around

Silence can be bliss but never forever
Sour in the air
This place has surmounted

So crawl out of the mute bid
The eyes around cannot commit to this
They’re washed out from the drought of
A state of mind soaked in a fantasy

Silence can be bliss but never forever
Sour in the air
This place has surmounted
Judging by the fading colors

Breaking the news never came so hard but now it’s over
Would it make you slightly sad or is it still just about you?
Can you step back more than just an inch from what little is expected?
My time is over
No more waiting for you

Pre Production - 3 - 4

Welcome to The Projection People blog.

We will be using this as a way to stay in touch with our fans and keep them up to date on what we are up to while not performing.

Photobucket

(For example: Scott got a new guitar, and Boat just got a joke from 4 years ago.)

Photobucket

We have begun preproduction for our forthcoming record. We are still planing everything out sort of, but have gotten underway with some drum track midi layouts.

We have also started discussing ways in which we can make this album more than just another local bands record.

Photobucket

Got some exciting ideas, thoughts, and pipe dreams. Stay tuned for more info on that soon.

Photobucket

For now send good vibes our way, we will be putting ourselves through hell to make sure this album is flawless.
